Todd's thinking starts from a pattern he's watched play out again and again: the moment a visionary becomes an operator, the vision starts to die. Good owners build something real, and somewhere along the way they become the bottleneck — every decision runs through them, the books are "fine" but tell them nothing, and the business never gets easier even as they work harder every year. His read on it: that's not a people problem or a money problem, it's an integration problem — finance, sales, marketing, technology, and people running as separate islands with the owner as the only bridge between them.
That read comes from two decades spent inside businesses at every stage of that exact problem. He built the global accounting systems, controls, and consolidation processes that let The Leadership Circle scale internationally through a post-merger transition. He built and ran a service business from the ground up at Real Steam Clean Hawaii, handling every function himself — the founder's-seat experience that shapes how he thinks about operator overload today. And as CFO at Kohler & Eyre CPAs, he led financial operations across multiple growth-stage client organizations simultaneously, developing an integrated financial operating model rather than treating each client's books in isolation.
In 2024 he put that experience into his own firm, Altavis Group, where he now leads as CEO and Co-Managing Member — an embedded operating partner model built around the same conviction: an owner doesn't need six separate consultants, they need one partner who connects the whole business.
